Seems like there are things about the Chelyabinsk meteor in 2013 that have gone unanswered - see It exploded at an altitude of 20km and released 500 kilotons of energy, 20 times more energy than the Hiroshima bomb. The shock wave generated was strong enough to create structural damage on the ground over a distance of 75 miles (mainly broken glass). However, this is nothing in comparison to the 1908 Tunguska explosion over Siberia which generated 5 megatons of energy and flattened a wide swathe of boreal forest.

The meteor exploded on the same day an asteroid passed close to the Earth, just 27,700 miles away. This was a really big lump of space rock but it was found there was no connection between the two objects as they had different orbits. Others might disagree with this finding but it seems like the meteor could not have been in resonant orbit with the bigger space lump.

Phil Silvia, in his book, 'The Destruction of Sodom' (Trinity South West University Press: 2015) has a good deal to say about the Chelyabinsk meteor as he proposes something similar devastated Tall el-Hammam. It is a book that I recommend reading as he enlisted the aid of the Younger Dryas Boundary event team. He also has an  explanation for the abandoned of the Kikkar (lower Jordan or Middle Ghor) - a raft of salty water blown out of the Dead Sea and poisoning the rich farm land. Apparently wheat doesn't like growing in salty ground - which is why Lower Sumeria was abandoned after a thousand years (irrigation agriculture and salty sea water left the fields unsuitable for wheat). Apparently, barley is more resistant to salt than wheat - but the shift in population centres from the south to upper Babylonia was significant (and futher from the sea and less likely for salt to be a problem). This all sounds a bit like Ginenthal but appears to be entirely independent thinking. Not sure if it works in the Jordan Rift Valley though.

Anyway, Silvia has another asteroid in the vicinity and it appears this may be the culprit - the meteor being in resonant orbit (in the trailing debris) of said asteroid. You need to read the book to understand what he is saying. Going for a snip on Amazon.
