The Magnetic Universe

http://www.australasianscience.com.au/bi2009/301Gaensler.pdf  .. from this site a pdf article can be accessed, Bryan Gaensler, 'The Magnetic Universe' - magnets are everywhere, even in lodestone, and for centuries navigation relied on the fact a compass will always point north. Migrating birds use magnetic fields and this is because the entire earth is a weak magnet.

Frankenstein and the Comet of Yore

www.thunderbolts.info March 9th ... 'Frankenstein's Comet: Sparks of Life' ... this is unfortunately a very short piece on what is a very interesting aspect of the past. Basically, the author draws a comparison with the Frankenstein story, bringing a monster to life with the aid of high voltage electricity passed through a lifeless corpse - but basically possessing the feasibility of life.

Oh to be a Sunbeam

www.thunderbolts.info March 10th ... 'The Sunbeam of Yore' explores features associated with  the axis mundi or world axis - a column of dazzling light visible in the sky. For example, Sumerian temples, such as that of Gudea of Lagash, 'made Ningursu's house come out like the Sun from the clouds' - a sunbeam, so that it 'rises like the Sun over the Land ... and illuminates the assembly like a delightful moonlight'.

Dark Flow

Science Daily March 12th (www.sciencedaily.com id100310162829) ... 'Mysterious Cosmic Dark Flow Tracked Deeper into Universe' - distant galaxy clusters mysteriously stream at a million miles per hour it is estimated, along a path roughly centred on the southern constellations of Centaurus and Hydra. We did not set out to find the data - we cannot make it go away, a NASA scientist said, (see March 20th issue of The Astrophysical Journal Letters).

Creation Myths

www.thunderbolts.info February 12th ... a contribution by Rens Van der Sluijs has a heading with a depiction of an aurora seen in January 1570 in Bohemia, central Europe. The way the picture is composed lends him to wonder if creation myths may have originated out of plasma formations, such as auroral phenomena, in the sky, and this is what is meant by the 'dwellings of the gods'.

Tarasenko Genadiy

Tarasenko Genadiy sent a message to 'In the News' concerning a theory that there are two hollow spheres within the earth that have a role in electro-magnetism. Astronomer Edmont Galya (1656-1742) advanced the idea to explain the displacement of the magnetic poles. The email goes on to envisage the spiral nature of the universe indicating rotation = dynamo affect = the accumulation of an enormous electric charge.

Plasma and Fractal web sites

www.plasmacosmology.net provides a brief history of the study and recognition of plasma in space - going back to Farady and Maxwell. When Kepler and Newton formulated their theories very little was known about electricity, hence their models rely on gravity and inertia. Mainstream theories have not changed too much from the basics and it is assumed space is electrically sterile. The site then goes on to look at the psychology of science - belief is known to have a profound affect on perception.

Space Anomalies

Science Daily January 20th ... MIT professor Richard Binzel has examined what influence Earth might have on asteroids - which appear to be substantial. He has determined what happens when an asteroid comes within a certain range and found that the Earth causes, what he describes as 'seismic shaking' of the asteroid, an attempt to understand what is happening. The shaking, he says, is strong enough to bring regoliths to the surface, creating the kind of meteorites that regularly fall through the atmosphere of the Earth.
