Having a Laugh

22 Dec 2016

Sometimes the arguments are unintentionally funny. Others are incredibly out on a limb. CAGW alarmism is like that and this is one of the reasons why most people do not take it seriously - as well as the lack of the warmth that we were promised. At http://phys.org/print401133850.html ... we are told global warming is happening even when the weather is cold outside the office window. A study in PNAS claims there are more places in the world where temperatures are hotter than there are places where it is just as cool as it ever was. You have to look at the global picture we are told by the CAGW funded authors. The inference is they still want to pull the wool over the eyes of Joe Public - which they must do if they want to keep their gravy train rolling on. The idea it was colder in the past and we had snow storms and the like is part of the global warming mantra. How could they prove it was warming if it was not colder in the past. However, as the warming appears to have levelled out we have returned to a bit of cooler weather (and snow in winter). The odd thing is the CAGW crowd want to convince you that this is not a return to a cooler general weather pattern (as in a cycle) but the snow we get nowadays is somehow generated in a different way than it was in the past - and the earth is really still warming up. If you could not laugh you would weep.

Meanwhile, at https://tallbloke.wordpress.com/2016/12/20/algerian-villagers-stunned-as... ... which puts the 30 year warm phase in perspective. Snow in the Sahara - never mind, you must look at the bigger picture. Snigger.

It seems that back in 1979 (when we had a cold winter over here in Britain and science pundits were writing about the next Ice Age) there was snow in the North Africa - and the world was going to get an awful lot colder. It didn't. It got warmer and they changed their tune - runaway global warming was going to frizzle crops in the field and we were all going to die (from hunger rather than from freezing). Over the last few weeks we have had flooding in Libya, and snow in Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Algeria. A blizzard struck Damascus a few days ago - but global warming is still hell bent on causing the world to turn into a furnace.

At http://notrickszone.com/2016/12/19/scientists-1930s-ice-melt-rates-in-gr... ... we learn that ice melt rates in the 1930s was not that different than in modern times. Mind you, you would have known this already if you had looked at the relevant ships logs or had read any of HH Lamb's books on climate in the 20th century. In other words, more evidence of a 60 year cycle of warmth and cooling.
