At https://phys.org/news/2019-07-japan-hayabasa2-probe-touchdown-asteroid.html .... and https://phys.org/news/2019-07-japan-asteroid-probe-hayabasa2-touchdown.html ... the Japanese Hayabasa 2 space probe made a 'perfect' touchdown on asteroid Ryugu and has collected samples from beneath the surface for laboratory analysis. An incredible technological feat but we shall have to wait for the results of the analyses.

At https://phys.org/news/2019-07-alternating-currents-jupiter-aurora.html ... alternating currents cause Jupiter's aurora is the latest deduction from analysis of the Juno mission data. Direct currents were found to be much weaker than expected so alternating currents must be responsible, we are told. On Earth a direct current system creates the aurora - but not it seems on Jupiter. Birkland currents in Jupiter's magnetosphere were observed by the Juno mission.

At https://phys.org/news/2019-07-hubble-mysterious-black-hole-disc.html ... an unexpected thin disc of material has been observed encircling a super massive black hole. It is situated in what is called a low luminosity galaxy (faint, in other words) and does not conform with mainstream thinking.
