Speak of the devil. I mentioned Neanderthal DNA research two days ago and the very next day spied this story at http://archaeologynewsnetwork.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/new-method-confirms... ... Technical objections to the idea Neanderthals interbred with the ancestors of EuroAsians have been overcome thanks to a genome analysis method described in the April 2014 issue of the journal Genetics. The research is ongoing and already thee are two camps in the debate.

Have you ever wondered how you caught a cough or the flu after visiting a supermarket or a doctor's surgery? At http://phys.org/print316165806.html ... we have a news story about MIT research of coughs and sneezes and what happens when we do this (or the chap sitting next to us on the bus or train). They have looked at the physics behind coughing and sneezing and found the effects are more longer lasting than previously assumed. Ventilation systems may even be part of the problem (particularly in workplaces, hospitals, and even on aeroplanes). We may have to go back to handkerchiefs in our pockets and covering our chops when we cough. This practical deterrent seems to be out of fashion at the moment.
