Ancient History Revisions; The Last 25 years - A PerspectiveBy John Crowe
Delivered at the SIS Silver Jubilee Conference, Friday 17th - Sunday 19th September 1999 |
- Introduction
In planning the content of the first day, the organising committee thought it would be good to start with a review of what has happened in the field of ancient history revisions over the last 25 years. More specifically, I suggested it. And so, in accordance with the traditional rule of committees, it came to pass that he who suggests something, and can't get anyone else to do it, ends up doing it himself. My original suggestion for a title, since it was to be drawn from a review of SIS publications, was "Revisionism over the Last 25 Years: An SIS Perspective". As you can see, the letters "SIS" are not in the title of this paper. The message is clear. The opinions expressed below are mine, not those of the Society.
