Magnetic Fields in the Universe

23 Jul 2020

At ... spiral galaxies have sprawling magnetic fields. The process of how they aquired them is not understood. However, a new study claims galaxy wide magnetic fields are in some way connected to supernova explosions and even to star formation. When evaluating the data beamed back from NGO4217, a galaxy which resembles the Milky Way, they found an X shaped magnetic field structure extending far out of the galaxy disc. In addition, they also found a helix structure and two large bubble structures. The latter may originate from where stars explode as supernovae - but also where stars are formed. The latter emit stellar wind in the process. The analysis of the data also revealed large loops as structures in the magnetic fields along  the entire galaxy. Sounds almost as if Don Scott was giving a talk.
