Global Magnetic Anomaly

At https://spaceweather.com (June 26th 2020) as we are still in solar minima, in transit between two solar cycles, earth's magnetic field has been relatively quiet. On June 23rd inmstruments picked up a magnetic anomaly reports Stuart Green of Preston. For over 30 minutes the local field oscillated like a sine wave (see link above for graph). No sign of any solar wind eruptions reported from NOAA. Nothing. The same oddity was picked up in Norway by another amateur researcher using a magnetometer.

Zealandia Geophysics

A new interactive map of the lost continent of Zealandia has been produced - see www.heritagedaily.com/2020/06/new-interactive-map-reveals-the-lost-conti... ... the map allows viewers to explore the geoscience data that shows the bathymetry and tectonic origins of the earth's eighth continent. It is a largfe area of submerged continental crust that became submerged around 23 million years ago, it is said.

African Megafauna

Another mysterous extinction event where one set of animals is replaced by a different set of animals. Giant wolverines and otters the size of wolves once roamed southern Africa. At https://phys.org/news/2020-06-gigantic-wolverines-otters-size-wolves.html ... where we learn that 120km north of Cape Town there is a quarry that is a paleontological treasure trove. Another one - but this quarry dates back 5 million years ago, to another boundary event. We are told the climate differed by 2 or 3 degrees and the sea level was 30m higher.

Dr Plot

Never heard of Dr Plot? Neither had I until I stumbled on this at www.mikeoates.org/mas/leek/sunset.htm ... this is an amateur astronomy web site and therefore we have research outside the box. It is quite an interesting piece of research but raises a big question - is the angle of tilt of the earth changing slowly over time. It concerns an astronomical oddity - one recognised by prehistoric people it would seem. Or does it. The double sunset seen from the churchyard of St Edward the Confessor church at Leek in Staffordshire is the starting point.

Noctilucent London

At https://spaceweather.com (June 23rd 2020)  noctilucent clouds over London (see images below). The London Eye and the Thames with the noctilucents overhead. Images taken by Phil Halper and reappearing variously on the web, even on https://wattsupwiththat.com/ ....

... Usually you have to go under a dark sky at higher latitudes to see noctilucents, so this is an unusual sight. Clouds visible at night. Over London ...

Data tampering

This is a major accusation - NASA GISS alter temperature data. Well, they do that by claiming to bring old data in line with modern data, but is it illegal. I would not have thought so. Is it corrupt. Well, depends what side you are on I suppose. The alleged crime is that they have changed cooling to warming in a quite blatant manner. We might ask, if so how are they getting away with it? All is revealed at https://notrickszone.com/2020/06/23/systemic-data-tampering-nasa-giss-al... ... which comes with comments (but just a few).

Julius Caeser and the Alaskan volcano

William sent in this link and it reports on a new idea concerning the blip in cold weather around 44 to 43BC, at the time Caesar died. See www.yahoo.com/news/did-volcnic-eruption-alaska-end-190549444.html ... a group of scientists are arguing that the Okmok volcano in Alaska led to unrest in the Mediterranean around the time of Caesar's death in AD44 with major political repercussions. This appears to ignore that his successor, Augustus, made use of an unusual comet apparition at this time in order to deify Caesar, and therefore himself - leading to unrest in the empire.

Stonehenge Hidden Landscape

William also sent in a link to www.yahoo.com/news/prehistoric-monument-discovered-near-stonehenge-14142... ... near as in a longish walk up the hill to Durrington Walls neolithic site - which overlooks the river Avan (rather, one of the rivers Avon as there are several). Comes with a nice short video. See aso www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-53132567 ... and best of all, www.smithsonianmag.com/history/what-lies-beneath-stonehenge-180952437/ ... and the big find is a ring of large shafts that form a circle around Durrington Walls huge earthwork.

Quasar Jets Are

Quasar jets are particle accelerators thousands of light years long - see https://archaeologynewsnetwork.blogspot.com/2020/06/quasar-jets-are-part... ... very high energy gamma ray emissions from quasars is not concentrated in the region of the galaxy black hole. Instead, it extends over several thousand light years along jets of plasma. A sort of galactic jet of plasma, perhaps - many times multiplied. Apparently, the discovery is causing a  shake up. Where have we heard that before. It should cause a shake up but odds are it won't.

Big Boy

At https://phys.org/news/2020-06-dinosaur-footprints-predators-big-rex.html ... dinosaur footprints in Australia of a predator almost the same size as a T. Rex. The footprints were discovered at Walloon Coal Measure in Queensland 90 years ago - and paleontologists have taken a second look at them, along with other footprints of animals. The mine in question has been long since closed down but it would be remarkable if the footprints were found in the coal measure itself - which is fossilised vegetable matter.
