At https://www.livescience.com/archaeology/rare-2-000-year-old-war-trumpet-possibly-linked-to-celtic-queen-boudica-discovered-in-england … a first century AD Celtc war trumpet has been unearthed in west Norfolk – home of the Iceni and Queen Boudicca. It was part of a metal hoard found last year. Other items include a boar headed military standard, five small shield bosses, and vaious other metalwork examples. Battle trumpets were used primarily by Celtic tribes in Iron Age Europe. This one was made of bronze and it ended in the shape of an open mouthed animal.

In Current World Archaeology 135 [February 2026 issue] we have a more nuanced version of the submerged stone structures off the coast of Brittany, situated on the floor of the continental shelf. Some of them, the smaller stones, have the hallmark of Mesolithic fishing traps. These are found elsewhere, in Ireland for example.  The date proposed  for some of the stones is between 5800 and 5300BC – as mentioned in an earlier post on the subject. The latter date is not too far from the date of the first Carnac stone alignments. Around 5000BC. The most noteable stone assembly is an alignment of large standing stones, placed at regular intervals. With a wall made up of smaller stone blocks built up and around them. They are still standing upright after thousands of years and may be inbuilt into the bedrock The creation and maintenance of such massive stone structures would have required a large and sizeable group with a strong collective motivation. Remarkable for a hunter gathering community. It may of course be that Neolithic people arrived in western Europe by boat earlier than thought – bypassing the migrations by land that took much longer. Neolithic monuments appeared after 5300BC and appear to involve stone versions of long houses – as mortuaries. Having said that there is no intrinsic  reason why people in Britanny were themselves using boats to get around. The near contemporary boat yard found in the Solent, on the opposite side of the Channel, demonstrates such a scenario. Neolithic people turned up in Britain somewhat later – towards the end of the 5th millennium. Dating migrations is difficult – and assessing what involved newcomers or the ability of locals. These dates also depend on what methodology was used – for the new finds as well as the old  and better known megalithic structures. In any case, one can evaluate it yourself – at https://world-archaeology.com

Lastly, at https://dailygalaxy.com/2028/01/subterranean-inca-tunnels-found-in-peru-confirm-ancient-rumor/ … beneath the streets of Cusco, researchers have located a network of tunnels that appear to link temples and religiously oriented sites. Cusco, famous as the capital of the Inca empire, has a long history – predating the Inca. The tunnels, therefore may predate the Inca. Archaeologists have previously discussed ritual caves and subterranean chambers – and now we have a system of tunnels connecting ritual activity. Formerly, a rumour by the locals – but now a fact.
