However, this is not a resurrection of Worlds in Collision but the inference is that the solar system is vaguely unstable – Jupiter's gravity is capable of moving Mercury from its orbit. A computer simulation is at the heart of the story, and yes, none of us will be around when it happens an astronomical period of time in the future. The original research was published in Icarus (in 1996) and in The Astrophysical Journal (in 2011).
