this image is at www.spaceweather.com November 13th (2015) and is a giant dark filament or magnetic coil seen on the face of the Sun. Apparently, it can be seen through a pair of binoculars from the surface of the Earth (suitable shaded from the radiation). Such filaments can be unstable and they have a tendency to collapse. As a result of this they can explode and create a hyper flare – extra energetic.
