… and the same story is at http://phys.org/print376638493.html … and it looks almost like one of those saw pits you see in the woods – a hole with the spoil thrown out on one side. At the top was the top dog and in the hole the underdog. The bloke below caught all the sawdust and bits of soil blowing about but the top dog was able to breathe a better kind of fresh air. Mind you, when it rained they both got wet but that was the nature of life, out in all weathers, and felling a tree to saw it into slices to make chair seats was a job with better remuneration than working as an agricultural labourer.
