The Fable of a Stable Climate

Climate change

At http://notrickszone.com/2016/05/04/dutch-geologist-calls-climate-science… …. I suppose this is the usual geologist take on climate. They are used to dealing with blocks of hundreds of thousands of years and the last 150 years is just a pin prick in time. The link is to a book review by Dr Hans Labohn. The book in question is 'The Fable of a Stable Climate' by Gerrit van der Lingen. The author came to realise that  belief in man made catastrophic global warming caused by co2 emission is not motivated by science and it seemed to him to be a debate between ideology and pure science.

The first chapter is an overview of the climate debate, the protagonists and antagonists. What seems to surprise the author is how it is possible that intelligent people have been taken in by the CAGW hypothesis and seem to have lost all sense of reality as a consequence. However, the bit that amused me was when the author  turned to Tony Blair's chief scientific advisor, Sir David King. The description fits perfectly with  what we have gleaned of him over here – a CAGW fanatic that behaves more like an evangelist than a scientist. This takes me back to a Radio 5 phone-in one morning several years ago where the guest was none other  than the man in question. People were ringing up Saint Nicky and asking if he was a 'real' scientist – they just could not believe it.

Amusement aside he went on to storm out of a Russian conference on CAGW because sceptics were allowed a voice. The author addresses the Russian position (all they wanted was some kind of scientific proof) and of course the feigned anger was designed not to have to answer the request. Do these people have any evidence? One does wonder.
