Although your average sceptic is well aware of the use of algorithms by climate scientists that adjust temperatures year by year to compensate for imaginary factors this appears to be slightly different – but achieves exactly the same thing, the required uptick in global temperatures for public consumption. Most people don't have the time or inclination of checking up on what is going on behind the scenes – they just have a scent for something dodgy. In this instance, the issue is so blatantly clear with no trace of opaque obscuration one wonders if these people are now so confident they can get away with it that they just do not care anymore in trying to appear to be honest. That is taking elite arrogance to a new level.
The IPCC reports (3rd and 5th) have caught the NASA climate science division, and the Met Office, out in a clear case of phantom warming between 2001 and 2013. Why did they do it? It seems to be an effort to get rid of the hiatus in global warming during the period 1998 and 2012. Some 111 out of 114 climate model simulations show a surface warming trend larger than observations. The models rule the CAGW roost – observations are ignored.
