At https://tallbloke.wordpress.com/2020/09/23/ecologists-confirm-alan-turin… … which is said to solve the mystery. It seems Alan Turing's model explains the striking vegetation patterns that modify habitats and arid environments in Australia and the Kalahari in Namibia. A drone was used and a multispectral camera, mapping an area of Triodia grasses. Turing's concept was that in certain systems, due to random disturbance and a 'reaction diffusion' mechanism, interaction between just two diffusible substances was enough to allow patterned structures to spontaneously emerge. This has been used to account for the patterns of zebra fish for example, or the spots on leopards. Now the theory has also been used to explain vegetation patterns. For more information on the Alan Turing concept go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_pattern … Turing was a mathematician and he wrote, 'The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis' back in 952. Earlier articles on the subject can be seen at https://phys.org/news/2016-03-fairy-circles-australian-outback.html … and https://phys.org/news/2015-04-mysterious-fairy-circles-pattern-skin.html … which concerns fairy circle patterns in skin cells.
