Antarctic Ice Shelves

Climate change

Gary sent in the link to https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-10813869/ … some Antarctic ice shelves have grown over the last 20 years, we are told. This comes in spite of global warming. It seems the researchers are worried the results of a recent survey do not tally with the climate change mantra. They have been doing somersaults in an effort not to upset the ministry of misinformation. They are suggesting that it is all down to wind patterns that may have caused more sea ice to push up against the ice shelves and stop them from melting. After all, the models are unanimous. Global warming means ice is melting. In the Antarctic, it is now verified that it is growing.

Obviously, if sea ice declines in the Arctic, at the North Pole, that agrees with the mantra, and is heralded as evidence of global warming. It should follow that sea ice growth in the Antarctic, at the South Pole, is caused by cooler temperatures. However, this cannot be said. It is forbidden. The ministry of misinformation says climate change is warming the planet and therefore some other reason must be the cause of the ice growth. Funnily enough, the last 20 years coincide with a quieter period on the Sun, with fewer sun spots than in the late 1990s and early 2020s. However, according to the ministry of misinformation, the Sun does not play a role in earth’s warming. It is a constant star and never varies. Is this why the models do not conform with reality?

The research involved scientists from Cambridge University, Newcastle University and New Zealand’s Canterbury University. They discovered that 85% of the 870 mile long ice shelf along the eastern Antarctic seaboard, ice advanced, without interruption, between surveys conducted in 2003/4 and 2019. Prior to 2004, we are told, the ice shelves were thought to be receding. What is left unsaid is that prior to 2004 the Sun was extremely active. However, even then we might well question the statement, that ice was receding to any great degree.

The same story is at https://tallbloke.wordpress.com/2022/05/12/some-antarctic-ice-shelves-grew-in-area-over-the-last-20-years-study/ … and this one comes with comments. Old Brew says the expedition’s chief scientist and co-author of the study in Nature Geosciences, said that it was noted and recorded during the expedition, that parts of the ice shelf coastline were at ‘their most advanced position since satellite records began in the 1960s.’ Phoenix added, that the forecasts were clearly wrong but instead of confronting them we get silly excuses and fantasies.

Funnily enough, the German blog, No Tricks Zone, a few days later expanded the cooling period to most of the world – see https://notrickszone.com/2022/05/16/radiosonde-temps-show-northern-hemisphere-tropical-warming-has-mostly-paused-since-1998/ … and we might remember that 1998 was the year of a bigger than normal El Nino event, pushing tropical water from the equatorial Pacific into the Atlantic via the Indian Ocean, and for a while causing some warming in the West Antarctic Peninsular prior to moving up through the Atlantic and finally dissipating the warmth into the atmosphere above the Arctic. A clear example of the water planet in action, having evolved over millions if not billions of years.
