Making the weather cold

Astronomy, Climate change

At https://phys.org/news/2023-02-space-earth-sun-shield.html … it seems some Dr Strangeloves are trying to prime Joe Public into an awful experiment – turning our weather cold. The claim of course is that they want to mitigate against global warming. However, that isn’t actually happening in the real world, only in their models. So, they want to freeze us – or prune the population. The idea  is to create a dust laden region in the sky, between the earth and the sun. The desire is this shield will be repeatedly replenished, using regolith from the moon, and any other dust particles they can exploit. This will be a permanent feature in the sky, if they can just get it right. Even though by inhibiting the sun’s ability to warm the surface of the earth they will create colder weather akin to the Little Ice Age of four or five centuries ago.

The same story pops up at https://tallbloke.wordpress.com/2023/02/09/more-geo-engineering-fantasy-dust-as-a-solar-shield/ … I like the comment under Oldbrew, ‘we could file this under lunacy’ which of course is apt as the lunar in lunacy = moon dust in the claim. Another one has just one word, ‘nutters’, and another, ‘there are unintended consequences, as well as intended consequences’ ….
