At https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2025/05/250527124440.htm … new optics instruments show up the atmosphere of the Sun in greater detail than ever. The system removes blur from images caused by our Earth’s atmosphere. The Sun’s atmosphere, or corona, is usually only visible during eclipse events. These show up eruptions that send plumes of plasma into space – most of which fall back again. The new technique allows observatories around the world to see what is going on in the corona and the hope is that it will allow scientists to understand how the Sun works as far as plasma and heat eruptions are concerned.

At https://phys.org/news/2025-05-cosmic-mystery-deepens-astronomers-radio.html … astronomers have spied an object flashing in both radio waves and x-rays – a new cosmic phenomenon, we are told. ASKAP J1832-0911 emits pulses of radio waves and x-rays for 2 minutes every 44 minutes. These are known as long period transients – and are usually x-ray pulses only. At https://phys.org/news/2025-05-dozens-high-redshift-quasars-astronomers.html … the discovery of 25 new quasar objects. These are thought to be active galaxy nuclei. They have high luminosity powered by black holes. They emit electro-magnetic radiation observable in radio, visible, ultraviolet, and x-ray wavelengths.
