Earth’s Magnetosphere

This is the region where Earth’s magnetic field is located – a key driver of magnetic storms on Earth. Since electric forces act  from positive charge to negative charge it was thought that the magnetosphere was positively charged  on the morning side and negatively charged in the evening. The  evidence from satellite observation is that the opposite is true. Intrigued, a Japanese university research team were inspired to re-examine the underlying mechanism of the magnetosphere. They found that although this was true at equatorial regions it was quite different in polar regions. At the poles the polarity remains consistent with traditional understanding. Why then are there opposite polarities between the two regions?

This can be explained by the motion of plasma, we are told, as discovered by the Japanese research team. Interesting.

Meanwhile, at https://phys.org/news/2025-07-secrets-galaxy-heart-magnetic-fields.html …  the heart of the Milky Way has been mapped, revealing the magnetic field. It seems the magnetic field wraps around an expanding bubble of hot electrified gas blown outwards by powerful winds, creating streams of high speed electrons. Sounds very much like what occurs on the Sun – but in a greater and more powerful manner. These radio emitting filaments were discovered back in the 1980s, we are told. Yet, cosmologists still insist a black hole lies at the heart of the galaxy.
