Sahara Dust and Thunderstorms

14 March 2026

Robert sent in a couple of links, including https://phys.org/news/2026-03-saharan-generated-hidden-thunderstorms-high.html … a story that dust with an origin in the Sahara desert is ‘generated’ by hidden thunderstorms. Oddly, one may note, these thunderstorms occur during the night – yet they lift vast quantities of dust into the atmosphere. Robert says he is reminded of the work of Michel Csudi, ‘Supernova Storms’ – storms that also occur during the night. However, the storms from the link are earthbound and occur over the Atlantic Ocean. See https://web.archive.org/20210828045004/http://breakthroughinenergy.com/sitefiles/media/PDF%20Documents/SupernovaStormWebFile.pdf … Roberts also adds, bearing in mind mainstream tell us air warmed by the Sun rises and can form thunderstorms. In the tropics, for example. What mechanism is therefore happening during the night? Even in the desert it can get quite cold at night.

At https://phys.org/news/2026-03-interstellar-comet-alcohol-alma-3iatlas.html…. Comet 3IATLAS still in the news. Astronomers at the Atacama Large Multi Array [ALMA] say the comet was  packed with an unusually large amount of the organic molecule, methanol. It has an origin in both the nucleus and in ice particles in its coma.
