Pliosaur Skull

Biology, Catastrophism

At https://dailygalaxy.com/2026/03/most-complete-fossil-skull-found-cliff/ … a massive pliosaur skull dating back to the late Jurassic has been found sticking out of a cliff in Dorset’s ‘Jurassic Coast.’ It is one of the most complete pliosaur skulls found, we are told, a one in a billion specimen. The rest of the skeleton may still be hidden inside the cliff face. It has 130 teeth – which are still in an interlocked position. That would suggest death was probably sudden.

Part of its snout was found on the beach below by a fossil enthusiast. He took it to Steve Etches, the  renowned fossil hunter who works, and opened, the Kimmeridge fossil museum. A  must visit location if you are down that way. Etches, in turn, got in touch with other experts, of the academic variety. A drone survey later revealed the skull embedded in the cliff abvoe the beach, 12 m high. The skull measures around 6 feet in length but extracting it from a midway point on the cliff face was hazardous, and a prolonged procedure. Well done everybody. Real science in action.
