In fact, the site of the artifact was a popular heritage site, visited by families for years. It raises some interesting facts about Egyptian relations with Canaan during the MB age. A scarab amulet designed in the form of a dung beetle – a sacred symbol in ancient Egypt, associated it is believed with regeneration. Scarabs are often found in tombs – where that idea may have an origin. However, they are also found in priest’s homes as well as in open public spaces. So, what really is the symbolism?
