At http://wattsupwiththat.com/2011/12/13/higgs-boson-announcement-expected-… cern/ is a piece with lots of comments on how the search for Higgs Boson is proceeding (see also www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-16158374/ we have the BBC headline, 'Higgs Boson may have been glimpsed' … but on the other hand, it might not have been. Whatever, particle physicists are apparently very excited by small signals – which might be background noise.
Over at www.physorg.com/print242911772.html the speculation concerns black holes and a super computer simulation of how supermassive black holes came into existence shortly after the Big Bang. The paper is published in Astrophysical Journal Letters and is an advance on the claim the Sloan Digital Sky Survey actually found supermassive black holes at less than a billion years after said Big Bang. Perhaps, physicists will have the chance to test black holes out as it is now reputed that a giant cloud of gas has invaded the Milky Way and is expected the black hole at the centre of the galaxy will gobble it up – but if it doesn't?
