The big news is the 'near' discovery of the Higgs Bosun particle by scientists at CERN. The actual published paper on the subject has not actually been released as yet – but the excitement is obvious. Thunderbolts already has a blog on the Higgs Bosun and the BBC are bloveating as usual. Even Anthony Watts has chipped in with a piece – somewhat lukewarm towards the news.
Meanwhile, at http://phys.org/print260529699.html there is an image from the Hubble Space Telescope of a geyser of hot gas flowing from what is thought to be a new star – a huge jet that arches through the sky.
