Green famines

Climate change

An interesting post at www.bishop-hill.net/blog/2014/6/13/the-inhumanity-of-the-environmentalis… … which is a bit political – but raises an interesting issue. Does opposition to genetically modified food, which is claimed to make it possible to feed the world if growing conditions worsen as a result of climate change, mean they would have turned a blind eye to people dying in the Irish potato famine – and will they avert their eyes if a major famine as a result of global cooling occurs in the near future? What is the object of having NGOs. They all seem to support the global warming meme (lots of money spilling around) but what will happen if a serious famine broke out – due to events in the natural world rather than political (wars, despots etc).

Something more down to earth – at http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/06/13/dr-richard-lindzens-talk-at-eike/ … which comes complete with a video of the talk and some interesting comments on the models.
