Palaeontologists have discovered a cliff side in Utah full of dinosaur fossils from the Triassic. Preliminary findings were presented at a conference in Dallas in October (2015) – see http://phys.org/print364231424.html

A large flying reptile, an early fomr of Pterosaur, was found but pride of place are the many small crocodile like creatures with armour across their backs. The skull and wing bone of the pterosaur are not damaged which is a rarity as far as fossils of flying reptiles are concerned. They are embedded in sandstone which suggests instant burial in sand. It is thought they were living on the side of a lake. Utah is now a dry desert and the journalist from Associated Press seems to think the sand indicates it was a desert in the Triassic.
