Although many people simply pay lip service to the idea there is a very active and strong body of people that are bewitched by the idea of impending gloom and disaster. Climate models, in the view of some people, are the equivalent of holy writ. They are models. They are projections. The weather outside very often refuses to conform to the models.

Meanwhile, in the opposite direction, Indonesia and Australia are getting plenty of rain. Climate scientists express surprise at the continuity of La Nina events even though this was predicted by other climate scientists. They might not be the favourite of the climate change mantra but they were scientists with an active interest in climate. One theory was that every 30 years El Nino dominates and the following 30 years see La Nina in the ascendancy. This switch is what has occurred it would seem, but it says a lot when surprise that it has happened is voiced. This involves a so called 60 year solar cycle. The problem is that the models have no role for the sun. It is assumed to be a constant. Other theories are that La Nina dominates during cloudy periods, on a global basis, especially over the Pacific basin. It looks like, from the article, climate scientists are preparing the ground for the current preponderance of La Nina’s on human activity. Again, some of the comments are very good.
