Bill Thompson sent in a link to Psalm 29:1-5 and 9-11 that can be added to his compilation of catastrophic events, including those recorded in the Biblical narrative. A direct link to this compilation is elsewhere on this web site – as well as at other sites such as https://cosmictusk.com/historical-catastrophism-bib/ … and on the Academia web site as well. The Psalms served a purpose as sung songs – presumably during religious services. Here we have, ‘ascribe to the LORD, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name; worship the LORD in the splendour of his holiness. The Voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. The Voice of the LORD is powerful, the Voice of the Lord is majestic. The Voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon …. The Vocie of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forest bare ….’ On the basis the Voice of the LORD is in fact the noise created by a meteor exploding in the lower atmosphere one can see similarities with the Tunguska air blast. Flattening a forest of trees. Oaks and Cedars are of course much more substantial trees than the specimens of the boreal forests in Siberia and Russia, but it only takes a marginally more energetic explosion in order to tear up a forest of deciduous trees.
