At https://spaceweather.com … for March 26th, and again, today, April 2nd …  we now have news of a naked eye comet rounding the Sun. Not certain though but it is hoped it will flare up and become visible. This is Pan-STARRS C/2025 R3. Discovered in 2025 as a predicted sun grazer it is fast approaching its rendevous with the Sun. It will at that point pass between Earth and the Sun so a good view might be in the offing. Sunlight passing through the comet’s dusty atmosphere could be amplified 100 times – but some astronomers are pessimistic.

At https://phys.org/news/2026-03-earth-magnetic-field-previously-undetected.html … Earth’s magnetic field creates a previously undetected pocket of protection from radiation on the Moon.

At https://phys.org/news/2026-03-distant-galaxy-decades-supermassive-black.html …  a distant galaxy has faded 20 fold in the last couple of decades – challenging how black holes evolve. Basically, its brightness dropped to one twentieth of its level over 20 years. Why? Researchers concluded it was due to a slowness in the gas flowing into a supermassive black hole at the galaxy centre. However, the Electric Universe people have different ideas. It is all to do with the electric nature of the universe. Did somebody dim the lights?

At https://phys.org/news/2026-03-jwst-reveals-distant-red-galaxy.html …  the James Webb Space Telescope has come up with the most distant red galaxy yet discovered – measured by red shift. There might be a problem there.
