They date from the Late Pleistocene – but post Late Glacial Maximum. Other finds come from the Early Holocene, Middle Holocene, and Late Holocene – from 8000 to 450 years ago. They were uncovered in Wyoming, Nebraska, and Colorado. It seems that hunter gatherer people, even as early as 12,000 years ago, and more, used dice. Or what are being interpreted as dice. The earliest example comes from the Folsom strata, 12,800 years ago. They were two sided rather than cubic, usually made from small pieces of bone.
