At https://phys.org/news/2026-10-earth-planet-grew.html … here we learn that Earth may have formed a lot of its water as the planet grew – while at https://phys.org/news/2026-10-earth-core-leaking-hydrogen-billions.html … Earth’s core may have been leaking hydrogen for billions of years. Interesting as hydrogen, two parts as compared to oxygen one part, equals water. Or, potentially can transform into water. We now have lots of oxygen on Earth from the beginning – and now lots of hydrogen too. Interesting. This is given a boost at https://phys.org/news/2026-10-comets-didnt-seed-life-earth.html …. comets probably did not seed life on Earth after all. Somewhat earlier the idea they also brought water was repudiated. However, the research at this link is confined to the delivery of probiotic molecules. No doubt, other researchers will now dissect their modeling and come back to the idea that comets did seed life. Or those bits of comets known as meteors. However, if the interior of Earth contained large quantities of oxygen and hydrogen it is not necessary to think in terms of lots of little comets interacting with Earth’s atmosphere. Yet, at https://dailygalaxy.com/2026/10/sahara-oldest-mars-meteorite-traces-water/ … we learn that a 4 billion year old meteorite found in the Sahara holds traces of ancient water. Well, I never. A good story never dies, as they say.
At https://dailygalaxy.com/2026/10/the-suns-spinning-jets-curtains-of-plasma/ … new simulation reveals the Sun’s apparently circling jets may actually be folded plasma curtains. And on a more happy note we have this at https://phys.org/news/2026-10-nasa-voyager-power-communications.html … NASAs Voyager One team have successively stretched the space ship’s diminishing power supply, and they are now back in communication with it. Staying on a positive note, at https://dailygalaxy.com/2026/10/hidden-world-beyond-pluto-just-been-found/ … a dwarf planet has been discovered beyond Pluto – described as a massive icy object. Yet, it aspires only to be a dwarf planet. In fact, it is only 620 miles across. Definitely not massive – so a bit of theatre is involved. Not Planet X either. They have, however, discovered eleven hundred new asteroids and 380 objects the other side of Neptune.
