1983 Public Meeting: Global Catastrophes

First public meeting of the S.I.S. outside London since the Glasgow Conference. Held at Trent Polytechnic (Nottingham), under the title “Global Catastrophes: New Evidence from Astronomy, Biology and Archaeology”, the aim was to present broad reviews of the recent and accumulating evidence for global catastrophism by specialists in those three disciplines. Speakers:

  • Dr Victor Clube: Comets – the cause of historic and prehistoric catastrophes
  • Dr Trevor Palmer: Catastrophism and Evolution
  • Geoffrey Gammon: The Bronze Ages in the Near East: a catastrophist interpretation

The talk is reported in SIS Review Vol VI No 4 (1984).
