At http://wattsupwiththat.com/2011/03/24/the-earths-biosphere-is-booming-da… … global warming or not the earth's biosphere appears to be benefiting from increased C02 in the atmosphere – the earth is greening. This post is based on one paper by three Chinese scientists, Liu et al, 'Spatial and temperal variations of global LAI during 1981-2006' in the Journal of Geophysical Sciences 20 (2010) – the LAI in this instance stands for Leaf Area Index. In other words, vegetation around the world is thriving.
The second paper is by two scientists from Taiwan and was published in the Atmospheric Science Letters (2010), Lu and Hsu, 'Change in the dominant decadal pattern and the late 1980s abrupt warming in the extra tropical Northern Hemisphere' and the conclusion of the paper is that the earth has warmed over the last 30 years, atmospheric C02 has increased – but did not cause the warming. It can be attributed to natural variability. It seems that mickey mouse science in the West is being upstaged by the down to earth science of the Chinese – and that will continue in the future.
