Ocean Circulation Systems

At http://bobtisdale.wordpress.com/2010/08/08/an-introduction-to-enso-amo-a… (there is a broken link here so if there is a problem go to site and look at archive on LH menu). This is a taster article for those who know very little about the Ocean Circulation System, ENSO events (El Nino and La Nina cycles) and how they influence global climate. This seamlessly leads to http://wattsupwiththat.com/2011/04/11/steig-on-antarctic-warming-rossby-… which explains why the West Antarctic peninsular has been warming for around 30 years – as a result of rising sea surface temperatures in the equatorial Pacific. It concludes that the peninsular is affected by weather – and not by climate change, a reference to AGW alarmist doomsayings. Only relevant if you are aware of the history of climate science and media hype concerning melting glaciers and ice caps – or rising sea levels. None of this is clearly going to happen. It is weather – not climate (an important distinction as AGWs like to say).
