Pre-Clovis

Archaeology

Evidence of pre-Clovis occcupation of N America is now being found more and more often – which just goes to show how much was being suppressed prior to the dam bursting. The idea of Clovis First is taking a hammering and the latest tale in the saga can be found at http://popular-archaeology.com/issue/spring-2016/article/prehistoric-sit… …. which is all well enough but in this instance it is only barely so as the new find occupies the same general period as Clovis (but slightly earlier) between the end of the Ice Age and the Younger Dryas event. Clovis dates between 14,000 and 13,000 years ago and the new discovery is dated 14,550 years ago (and we also have to bear in mind C14 is variable). Now, if the discovery was a few thousand years prior to Clovis we might get excited.
