At https://www.sciencenews.org/article/cow-carved-stone-paints-picture-of-e… … we have a new image of the auroch with dots on an engraved stone in Palaeolithic Europe, roughly 38,000 years ago.

rows of dots partly cover the aurochs and there is a circular depression cut into centre of the animals body. The rock art is similar to some engravings and drawings found at other French and German sites – including the famous Chauvet Cave. They are atrributed the Aurignacion culture people who are normally dated between 43,000 and 33,000 years ago. Like the new art they contain rows of dots too, and depictions of aurochs and other animals shown in profile with a single and horn and a long but thin muzzle/ The images are thought to have deep meaning for the artists – and the Aurignacions in general.
