Unfortunately, he doesn't tell us much about falling sea levels – only the ones that rise long before humans began industrialising. The assumption is that the earth system was the same in the past as it s nowadays – which may be a major impediment to the point he is making. He says 35 different peer reviewed papers dispute the CAGW alarmism because sea levels have been higher in the past in various places around the world. On the face of it this is a potential gold mine for neo-catastrophists seeking evidence of sea level change as a result of geoid change etc. For example, 5000 years ago corals in Australia show sea level was nearly 3m higher than today. In Argentina a similar high has been recorded between 6000 and 5500 years ago, and in the early Holocene sea levels were 6.5m above present levels. This means sea levels have fallen in S America. In Antarctica rapid sea level rise is recorded in the early Holocene, with 8m in difference. Similar findings have been found in New Zealand. However, southern Africa does not seem to have experienced the same level of sea level rise. It was fairly muted. The fact that sea levels changed at different levels in different parts of the world that is most intriguing for neo-catastrophists. Melting glaciers would produce a more uniform amount of sea level rise. Once again the 8000 years ago point is marked by big changes in sea levels – see the final paragraph, 'a rapid sea level rise occurred between 8300 and 7000 years BP …'.

Looks like Hollande will go out with a bang – but not in the way he had hoped. He'll be the butt of jokes and the referred to research paper is what led him to believe science was on his side. Oh dear. Politics is a funny business.

The Trump effect is causing an upheaval in climate science circles and he has yet to do anything. Nobody would have though that a couple of months ago. What will we have to bellyache about in the years ahead? Politicos will provide us with plenty to get upset – Trump included.
