Every time mainstream gives them a kicking up they pop with another major paper. This times it is a barrage of fireballs as a comet fragmented and disintegrated in the atmosphere, creating a series of rapidly descending meteors that they claim torched a considerable part of the landscape. Geochemcal and isotopic markers have left behind a lot of evidence of their passing. High temperatures were produduced and chemical and isotopic signatures – such as high levels of platinum. The evidence is plucked from Greenland ice cores and at a number of sites investigated by the research team (170 sites in all). Other signatures involved levels of carbon dioxide, nitrate, ammonia etc (all associated with comets). They estimate 10 million square kilometres of the earth's green landscape was torched by the falling meteors – with an origin in a comet (or fragment of comet). Pine forest was in particular affected.

They might be into criticising mainstream on climate change but do not seem to relish criticism of other mainstream beliefs. It's a rather strange attitude but they are looking at a press release from the University of Kansas.
