The James Webb Space Telescope has been looking at Centaur objects – that orbit between Jupiter and Neptune. These enigmatic space objects are something of a mystery as they can sport a tail and a coma like a comet, or none at all like an asteroid. Hence, the interest of astronomers. See https://phys.org/news/2023-11-jwst-carbon-dioxide-centaur.html … and yes, Centaurs contain carbon dioxide – just like many other cosmic objects. This discovery, it is said, is a game changer when it comes to understanding the composition of centaurs, asteroids, and comets. Perhaps.
