eROSITA telescope

Astronomy, cosmology

At https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-024-00489-8 … mapping the universe.  The eROSITA telescope has been used to reconctruct 9 billion years of cosmic evolution – by tracing the X-ray glow of distant clusters of galaxies. The analysis, unsurpringly, supports the standard model of cosmology. Nothing to upend the apple cart. The researchers assumed the gravitational pull of dark matter is the main factor shaping the universe and its structure. In spite of the fact they say dark matter is still a mysterious substance. I assume they expect the mystry of dark matter to be solved any time soon. At the moment it is an unproven presence in space.

We do not see any departure from the standard model of cosmology, we are told. Wow. Images revealed 900,000 X-ray sources – assumed to be black holes and relics of supernova explosions, for example. If the link above does not work try https://doi.org/10.1038/d4586-024-00489-8
