At https://www.livescience.com/animals/whales/ancient-whale-graveyard-discovered-under-melting-russian-glacier … a graveyard of ancient whale bones on Wilsczek Island in the far north of Russia. Presumably an offshire island in the Arctic Ocean. The whale remains were revealed after a glacier covering the island, split apart. Several square miles of the island’s land surface, and the bones, were there for all to see. They are said to be well preserved skeletons. The expedition is still in progress – according to TASS. Nikita Demidov, the lead geologist, said it represents an extremely rapid sea level change in the area. He said this occurred in the last few thousand years – presumably leaving the whales stranded. That would mean the sea level change was suddenly changed – in a twinkle of an eye. As they say. Not sure if he meant that quickly. However, until the full facts are disclosed we do not know if the whale bones were as recent as a few thousand years ago. They may be older.
