At https://phys.org/news/2025-11-landscape-clues-indigenous-peoples-southwestern.html … the tectonic lakes of Bolivia reveal a landscape modelled by humans. They are situated in SW Amazonia and they have had a long connection with people. Beneath the grassland around them and in the shallow waters, lies monumental earthworks, raised fields, and irrigation canals. LiDAR mapping, ground survys, and a bit of excavation, show the area was occupied between AD600 and 1400. The wetlands were repeatedly reshaped.
At https://phys.org/news/2025-11-ancient-dna-uncovers-unknown-argentina.html … the central Southern Cone in South America is interesting. It consists of a large part of Argentina. It has been occupied for 8500 years. Basically, all the way back to the 6200BC event. Modern Argentianians, or some of them, still have DNA with a direct connection to the people of that region. Presumably people with a native mix in their genes. They also have a genetic connection with the people of the central Andes.
