At www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/04/190411101824.htm … ancient Texas was a Serengeti savannah with animals such as elephant, rhinoceros and alligators etc. During the 1930s unemployed Texans were recruited to dig around at a couple of sites that were fossil rich – by the University of Texas in Austin. Tens of thousands of specimens were retrieved and have been briefly studied on a number of occasions, over the last 80 years or so. They have tended to concentrate on the big animals, but now, a new research team has studied them as a whole, small animals as well as the big ones. They say the animals lived in a Serengeti like habitat, semi tropical. They lived 11 to 12 million years ago so we are talking about plenty of time for the continents to have moved around a bit, or plate tectonics to have played a role. The findings are published in the online Paleontologia Electronika (April 11th 2019). The same story is at https://archaeologynewsnetwork.blogspot.co.uk/ancient-texas-serengeti-ha…
