Venus Swarm

At https://www.livescience.com/space/asteroids/an-invisible-threat-swarm-of-hidden-city-killer-asteroids-around-venus-could-one-day-collide-with-earth-simulations-show/ … a new study is claiming that ‘unidentified’ ‘co-orbital’ asteroids around Venus may one day in the future impact our planet. Simulations and computer magic are involved. Co-orbital asteroids are simply space rocks that orbit the Sun alongside a planet or other large body – without actually orbiting the large object itself. They are in sync, or resonance, if you like. In harmony, perhaps, but possibly capable of becoming unhinged. At the moment 20 such asteroids are recognised as co-orbiting with Venus. Some orbit ahead of the planet, and also behind, as well as to the sides, criss crossing the path of Venus. However, dozens of co-orbiting space rocks also tag along with Earth – and more are  being discovered all the time.

At https://phys.org/news/2025-06-clouds-venus-host-life.html … which has resurrected the idea that clouds on Venus may harbour an early form of life – or life that is distinctly different to that on Earth. Bacteria, for example. However, the post goes on to also mention the idea that global warming on Venus was due to runaway co2. This idea has been around for 60 years or more and has been repeatedly questioned. It is here presented as a fact of life. What confidence should we place in their research – if that is what it is. This occurred, they reiterate, millions, if not billions of years ago.

Back in 2020 a group of astronomers claimed to have detected phosphine in the Venusian atmosphere. This  did not go down well with well drilled mainstream scientists. Various criticisms were levelled at the group as phosphine is a by-product of anaerobic bacteria. Common in marsh and bogs on Earth. It seems NASA may think it may have legs as in their upcoming two missions to Venus, they intend to investigate it further.
